Therapy for women · Brentwood & Franklin, Tennessee

You have carried this long enough.

Therapy for women navigating trauma, relationships, and life’s major transitions, using EMDR, IFS, and body-based awareness to work with what is underneath the pattern, not only the symptom.

Sound familiar?

Maybe nothing is technically “wrong.”

You are simply exhausted from being the person who holds everything together and from carrying a pattern that was never really yours to begin with.

  • You are the one who holds everything together, and you are tired in a way rest doesn’t touch.
  • You are raising children and caring for aging parents at the same time, and somewhere in the middle, you disappeared.
  • You can explain exactly why you react the way you do. You still react.
  • The relationship changed, or ended, and now every old question about who you are is back on the table.
  • Something from a long time ago has started surfacing again, and ignoring it is no longer working.

You don’t have to keep becoming better at surviving the same pattern.

The Rooted Approach

We don’t just talk about what happened.
We work with what it left behind.

The Rooted Approach integrates EMDR, IFS, and somatic awareness into a single sequenced process: preparation, reprocessing, integration. Change happens where the pattern actually lives, not just where you can talk about it.

EMDR

Reprocessing

Reprocesses memories and experiences that remain emotionally frozen. The ones still driving today’s reactions from behind the scenes.

IFS / Parts Work

Understanding

Treats anxiety, depression, and protective behaviors as parts of your experience, not as your identity. Nothing about you is the problem.

Somatic Awareness

Listening

Reads the body and nervous system as a signal system. What your body has been saying often names the pattern before words can.

One integrated process, not three separate services.

One gentle step at a time

  1. Preparation

Safety, stability, and a working map of your inner world. Nothing is forced open before you are ready to hold it.

  2. Reprocessing

Focused EMDR and parts work around the experiences at the root, at the pace your system can actually integrate.

  3. Integration

The change becomes lived, not just understood. New responses, new choices, a self that feels like yours.

If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

Why “rooted”

Pressure leaves a mark.
It can also change what becomes possible.

Some of what weighs on you was formed under pressure: in the family you grew up in, the roles you were handed, the things you learned to carry without being asked. That weight is real, and it leaves a mark.

But pressure is not only what happened to you. Given the right conditions, it is also what forms something clear, strong, and entirely your own. Therapy, done at the root, is the work of creating those conditions. Not erasing what formed you, but freeing what it formed around.

About Suzanne

A therapist who will listen carefully. And tell you what she sees.

I am not a nod-and-listen therapist. I will pay close attention to what you say and what you don’t, and when I see the pattern, I will name it, kindly and directly. You deserve more than a witness. You deserve a collaborator with a point of view.

I also bring enough lived experience to know that transformation rarely arrives neatly. The life that worked before may not fit anymore. That is not failure. It is usually the beginning of the honest work.

Where this work meets your life

The seasons that bring women to this room.

A row of women of different ages, seen in profile
  1. Midlife & identity

The roles that organized your life for decades stop fitting. Who you are underneath them becomes the question worth answering.

  2. Relationships & divorce

Whether you are staying, leaving, or rebuilding after, the patterns you carry into relationship deserve understanding, not just coping.

  3. Trauma & old patterns

Experiences that were never fully processed keep voting in the present. EMDR and parts work help them finally adjourn.

  4. Motherhood & the mental load

Being the one who holds everything, the appointments, the emotions, the invisible logistics, is a real weight with real costs.

  5. Aging parents & caregiving

Caring for the people who raised you while raising your own children rearranges your identity. Old family dynamics rarely stay quiet.

  6. Life transitions

Empty nest. Career change. Perimenopause. Faith shifts. The passages nobody prepared you for, met with honesty instead of platitudes.

EMDR, practiced with depth

EMDR is a tool. How it is used matters.

EMDR can be remarkably effective at loosening what has been stuck for years: a memory, a reaction, a belief about yourself that never matched the truth. But it is not a technique to be applied by rote. The same protocol, used without preparation or judgment, can go nowhere, or go too fast.

I pursue EMDR as a discipline, not a checkbox: advanced training, consultation, and constant integration with parts work and somatic awareness, so reprocessing happens inside a relationship and a process that can actually hold it.
